Knowing that the next generation of assessments is placing a much greater demand on writing from today’s students it is imperative that teachers in all disciplines at all grade levels incorporate authentic writing opportunities in their classroom. This session will share natural opportunities for students to engage in meaningful and relevant writing and provide specific interdisciplinary examples for each. See how a Strategic Journey’s Guidebook (SJG) can change the way you teach as well as how your students learn. The notebook becomes a dynamic place where language, data, and logical reasoning experiences operate jointly to form meaning for the CTE student. The SJG helps students create an organized space for demonstrating their learning process. The notebook serves as a formative instructional tool as well as a portfolio of the students’ learning experiences, which provides rich documentation for their logical thinking development. The SJG is a tangible representation of the CCSS process standards for both Mathematics and ELA.
